Send Brandy to Study Abroad (Peru)

Hello,  My name is Brandy, and I am a non-traditional student working towards obtaining my degree in sociology. I am currently a member of PTK (Phi Theta Kappa-Beta Beta Chi) which is the honor society for 2 yr colleges, I am also a member of Psi Beta the psychology honor society, as well as a member of the Honors Program.  I work part time as sociology, psychology, and writing tutor on campus, and off campus I enjoy hiking, gardening, and volunteering at various organizations in my community. Having the oppurtunity to participate in a study abroad program that is also a service learning oppurtunity is a dream for me.  While in Peru, I will be working with other students not only from my campus but from all over the globe. We will be designing, building, and assembling a wind turbine in a highland Andes village  over 4 weeks. I am so excited about this oppurtunity because  I share in WindAids mission:

I look forward to learning and experiencing as much as I can and being able to impact the lives of others by providing electricity to developing communities.  Utilizing wind energy to provide a clean and reliable source of electricity in locations where traditional electricity is not available is a wonderful way to  encourage global change for a more sustainable way of life. This oppurtunity not only makes an impact on the Peruvians, but will also make a global change for a more sustainable world. I just love that! :)
