Africa Mission Trip

What if we could change lives all the way in Africa?
Together, we can!
Friends and family,
First of all, thank you to so many of you for your generous support of my missions trip to Africa. Since I first created this GoFundMe Campaign, our plans have changed quite a bit and I want to share this update with you.
Our team is now going to Kenya!
While I was looking forward to the trip we had planned to Cameroon, the mission headquarters decided it would be too risky to bring any short term missionaries into the country at the time of our trip. It will be an election month and there is a great amount of civil unrest. Please keep Cameroon in your prayers!
While the news of the cancellation of our trip was disappointing, it soon became clear that God had other plans. Within just a week our team was cleared for a new destination. With the same travel dates, our team will now be headed to Kenya. Specifically, we are going to the Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf. This is a school that our Pastor has worked very closely with for a number of years.
About the School
The Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf provides an amazing opportunity to deaf children in Africa that they would otherwise not have. In their culture deaf children are hidden away and many have no communication skills whatsoever. This school can literally change their lives. It gives them a safe place to live and learn. Over the last decade or so, the school has grown and developed by leaps and bounds. The children there are well cared for and the school itself has seen great progress in infrastructure and self-sustainability. One of the key people who has helped make this growth possible is the headmaster of the school. He lives at the school with his family in a very small space. And so, the school has decided it must also take care of this man who has taken such great care of the school. They are building a house for the headmaster and his family.
What will we be doing?
I will personally be working on the construction of the headmaster’s house while there. But there are other ways our team will be helping. The school has uniforms, providing clothing to the children. However, they make these uniforms last and last with many hours of hand-stitching. Our team will be bringing a wonderful gift to the school, a sewing machine! And some of my team members will work with the staff to fix the uniforms and teach them how to use the machine. Such a simple gift will be a blessing to them for years to come.
The Trip
Thankfully, our travel have remained the same, 2 weeks in October (the 7th to the 20th). Please keep this time of travel and ministry in your prayers! The expected cost of the trip is still around $2,500 per person.
Although this was not my original plan this really has been amazing to see God work to open these doors so quickly. I am excited to go and share my skills and be a part of what God is doing in Africa.
Thank you so much for your prayers and joining my support team. I truly believe this trip and the work we will do will not only benefit the deaf children in Africa now, but will make an eternal difference.
Blessings,
Nathan
