Senior caring for her autistic daughter & self

Calling all Angels,
My name is Toni, and I find myself reaching out for help during a challenging time in my life. For 30 years, I poured my heart and soul into a job that I loved. Now, at the age of 77, I've been retired for four years and facing a situation that I never anticipated.
I have been caring for my 55-year-old autistic daughter who recently underwent hip replacement surgery. The weight of responsibility has grown heavier as the years have gone by. I've always believed in lending a helping hand to friends and family in need, but today, I find myself in a position where I am the one who needs assistance.
Despite my best efforts, my finances have taken a devastating hit. Generosity has come at a cost, leaving me with nothing left to lean on. I'm currently on a waiting list for assisted housing, but the wait could stretch on for a while. Meanwhile, my small pension falls short of covering even my basic rent, and my bank account holds under $2000.
As if that weren't enough, my daughter's disability income is woefully insufficient to cover her expenses, let alone contribute to the roof over her head. I shoulder not only her financial burdens but also the weight of my own life. Writing this letter has been a difficult task, as pride often battles with the need to ask for help.
I haven't given up, though. Even at 77, I'm willing to work part-time in my area, hoping that someone might give me a chance. I believe in the power of community, the strength of empathy, and the kindness that strangers can show one another. In my desperation, I'm reaching out to anyone who can offer a helping hand during this trying period.
Your support would mean more than words can express. It would provide a lifeline, a glimmer of hope, and a reminder that compassion still exists in this world. If you can assist me in any way, whether through monetary aid or a part-time job opportunity, I would be forever grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Regardless of your decision, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for your consideration. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or if there's any way you can help us.
With sincere gratitude,
Toni
