Herbert’s Story:
On Monday 5/6 we rushed our love bug Herbert to Emergency VCA Family and Oahu Veterinary Specialty Center immediately because he was having trouble breathing, he became suddenly lethargic, and developed a high fever. Multiple tests and diagnostics, including Xrays and full bloodwork revealed he has bacteria filled fluid in his lungs. His Drs drained fluid from his lungs and testing it confirmed he has a severe bacterial lung infection in addition to FIP. VCA immediately put him on oxygen, IV fluids, and a strong antibiotic. He has been receiving FIP treatment since his visit as well.

After two days in the hospital and lots of intensive care, Herbert made it home and is doing fantastically under the care of his foster mom.

Herbert was rescued a few months ago as a stray in near-death condition. He had an eye ulcer, UTI, rotting teeth, mange--you name it, he had it. Our incredible supporters helped raise funds for him to receive a first round of medical care. And his road to recovery has been amazing.️ His eye ulcer is mostly healed but needs more meds and time (they were swollen shut and badly infected upon intake). His skin and fur are completely healed of the horrible wounds and mange. He is still slightly anemic but not worse, and the vet said that is likely due to his multiple infections and issues he is fighting to overcome. He fought off a bad URI. And finally, once all of his other health issues are taken care of, he will get some teeth removed to help relieve his mouth pain. Because of YOUR support, Herbert has had an AMAZING transformation from a neglected, extremely ill street cat to a cuddly, cared for indoor cat. But the wear and tear from what he endured on the street is not behind him.

Can you please help once more to give him this second chance he so deserves?
