Senior Year Dance Opportunities
Donation protected
The time has come. It is senior year and the last year of training at Mid Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts. Every year we end up running into some trouble financially because of unexpected additional expenses. I would love to make this year a worry free year for Tehya. I think this year might be a rough one for her because of the milestones that are going to happen (turning 18, college auditions, graduation, senior prom etc) and not being able to celebrate with certain family members that have passed on. MCPA has been her home & her safe haven for the past 10 years.
I feel like over the years I have asked too much of the family that we do have. I have recently been diagnosed with Lyme disease and I also have fibromyalgia, both of which affect me physically and mentally, so I have to work a little less which will hurt the pockets if you know what I mean. That being said, I have to do what I can to make this as close to a stress free year as possible for my baby, and that means making everything that has to do with dance work smoothly.
If you don't know much about Tehya, she started dancing with MCPA 7 1/2 years old and after a couple weeks was referred to join the pre-professional program. At 8 1/2 she started competing with the competition team and at 9 1/2 she started en pointe and received her first ballet solo. She placed that year, and several years after, at Youth America Grand Prix (the biggest international ballet competition in the world) and many other competitions. As she enters her 11th season at the studio, she has many accolades and experiences under her belt, and is even closer to making her dream of becoming a professional dancer come true. She has danced a minimum of 3 hours a day, 6- 7 days a week, all while keeping a 4.0 GPA in middle school, and a 4.3 or higher GPA through highschool. She has worked hard to earn everything, and I just want this last year to be one she can look back on with nothing but good memories.
This year she will be auditioning for dance programs at universities and even doing some company auditions. She will already be stressed out about this because, well, she is Tehya! So any funds raised will go towards things like competition entry fees, private lessons, costume deposits, and any of the back end things like plane or bus tickets to get to competitions and auditions, supplies, or anything that gets thrown her way last minute.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read this. Please consider sharing if you are unable to donate.
