Seniors Holiday Local Restaurant Gift Cards!

Each December, Spiritual Heart Yoga Center (SHYC) always donated a percentage of their sales to a charity that is close to their heart. Due to covid, the indoor yoga studio has been closed since March (opened for 5 weeks, only to be shut down again in July). It has been a challenging to keep our physical location, but with the help of our yoga community (sangha) we have been able to keep our space so that we can reopen when the state allows. The power of the community has inspired Krissy Harb (the owner of SHYC) so much during this time, more than ever. And she wondered how to pay it forward...Her godmother lived in the Honolulu Manor Senior Apartments (located right across the street from the studio). Every day she sees the beautiful residents and thinks fondly of her Godmother's time there, she passed away of pancreatic cancer in 2014. Her Godmother's friends still live there, in fact, Krissy enjoys visiting with Elizabeth, a great friend of her godmother's, to this day! Krissy looked into local charities and none really called to her. After teaching one of her Saturday morning ZOOM class, she thought to herself, what if we could somehow help the senior's across the street? She knows they are lonely and missing their families and social interactions. She also has a passion for the small local businesses in our beautiful community and wants to support them during these super challenging times. What better way to safely bring joy to the seniors and support small local restaurants than raise money to buy $50 gift cards and gift them to each resident at the Honolulu Manor Senior Apartments. There are 85 residential units and we are hoping to give each resident a gift certificate to a local restaurant for the Holiday season.  We love our community so much, the yoga studio would not be around without the support of our community and the best way to sustain the sacred community energy of our beloved Montrose is to keep the generosity going during these isolating and wild times.
