Thank you, again, for your kindness!! ❤️
Hello, I’m Diane Durham, and I’ve started this Go Fund Me to help my parents. They recently fell for a phishing scam, and were scammed out of ALL of their savings. My father was coerced and bullied into withdrawing cash, purchasing gift cards, and giving the gift card details to the scammer in order to avoid “trouble with the police”, and to “keep his family safe.” Following the scammer’s orders going bank to bank, store to store, my father was in a car accident. The car is currently driveable, but has significant damage to the front end, and due to the car’s age, may be a total loss. They now have no money for a possible car payment, an emergency, health needs, or some basic necessities.
We have filed reports with the police, and the FBI fraud bureau, but have been told not to expect to recover any of the lost money. We have also been going to the banks and stores to see why their own policies were not followed, or if there is any recourse or help, but we have had no luck at this point.
We are trying to keep them in their home, and help with the emotional toll that the scam has brought on for them. Donations will be used to cover necessary expenses and hopefully provide a nest egg for emergencies. Thank you, and happy new year.
