Sense Of Belonging Short Film

Hi my name is Joti.

I am an actor and writer. For the last several months I've been having this itch to create and tell this specific story. Well it's finally happening and I hope you will join me in bringing it to life.

This is a fundraiser for a short film I have written. I want to bring it to life with the help of like minded people. Anything helps. All funds raised will go towards food and hopefully payment for crew and cast (all depends on how much can be raised).

About the Film

This short film follows a South Asian women through her life journey. Traversing the ups and downs of a society built and set against her.

Topics such as bullying, misogyny, miscarriage will be touched upon. The immigrant story of women is one of mystery, all the goings on that aren't told, all the backlash given from close family. It doesn't stop at immigrants but continues and extends to the children who must navigate how to balance the western and eastern sides of them in a society that they just don't fit into.

What I Hope to Achieve

I want to bring awareness to behind the door conversations that happen to women of colour (specifically South Asians in this film) that never get told and are hidden behind a smile. I also want to showcase the wonderful culture and traditions that being South Asian brings to storytelling.

I hope to put POC in every position on this project. I want this project to be surrounded by love, light and a creative energy that flows through each member, leaving a little piece of themselves imbedded into this project.
