Sensory People
I am running the Amstelveen (The Netherlands) Marathon on 17th March 2024 (as part of my midlife crisis).
I'm raising money in aid of SENSORY PEOPLE (UK Registered Charity No: 1164806).
This incredible charity is based in the West Midlands and provides valuable, specialist interventions to enhance young people's ability to process the information they receive, through their eight senses, from the world around them.
Sensory processing difficulties can affect how an individual hears, feels, sees, tastes, smells, balances and understands the positioning of their body as well as their internal organs. This can be very challenging for the individual when they are trying to perform everyday tasks, and could affect many areas of their life, including their self-esteem, school attendance and performance and emotional wellbeing.
SENSORY PEOPLE aim to give individuals access to specialist therapists who use a client led therapeutic approach called (Ayres) Sensory Integration Therapy to help individuals develop efficient neural pathways and organise their nervous systems specific to their own individual developmental needs.
As a Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation (or Human Movement) Scientist, I know how important their work is to support children, young people and adults who have difficulties processing and integrating sensory information.
Every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause, which means so much to me.
