Carlos & Tammy Sepeda Relief Fund
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Jill Jones. As some of you may know, my daughter & son-in-law, Tammy & Carlos Sepeda, lost everything due to Hurricane Harvey. They are now facing some difficult times ahead, both financially and emotionally. Since neither of them are the type to ask for help, I'm here doing it for them.
THE STORY
The day before the flooding began, Carlos & Tammy decided to evacuate from their Friendswood home. Since their house had flooded once before (8 inches, 17 yrs ago), Carlos moved furniture & other belongings up on to the tables, beds, etc. They packed one suitcase & along with their cat and dog, they headed to my home in Centerville.
The next day they received a picture of their house from a neighbor. The water had risen so high that you could only see the roofs of their cars. A short time later, that same neighbor had to be rescued from his roof.
This is the photo the neighbor sent
RETURNING HOME
Tammy & Carlos were both anxious to get back to Friendswood & see the damage. Nothing could've prepared them for the devastation they were about to face. It was one of the hardest days my family has seen. They had over 6 feet of water. Their house, & cars had been submerged for days.
What they saw when they got home
THE DAMAGE
When they opened the door, they were hit with the horrible smell. Mold had already started to grow & the floors were covered in slick mud. The furniture was soaked & had been tossed around by the water. Drawers and doors were warped, some had swelled shut while others were falling off. Both of the refrigerators were knocked over, the food now rotting on the floor. Everything below the water line was lost. The only things salvageable were the things stored in the attic & in tops of closets.
FEMA & INSURANCE
•FEMA
They have applied for FEMA assistance, but who knows how long that will take or how much they will even cover. Their application status is still pending & FEMA has yet to make it to their house.
•FLOOD INSURANCE
They are still waiting to find out if the house is structurally sound enough to be rebuilt. The house itself is covered by flood insurance, unfortunately, it DOES NOT cover any of their personal contents in the house.
•TAMMY'S CAR
They are STILL waiting for State Farm to go out & look at Tammy's car. She can't buy a new one until she knows what they'll pay for it. Hopefully, it will be enough to pay off her current loan & get another car.
•THEIR SON'S CAR
They had bought and fixed up a car for one of their sons. The car had not yet been insured.

WHAT THEY NEED
Ive had family, friends & complete strangers asking me what they need. Many have offered furniture and other household items. At this time, they are staying at a friends house & do not have room to store anything.
They are however, both in desperate need of clothes & shoes. Tammy also need scrubs for when she returns to work.
MONETARY DONATIONS
All funds raised will go directly to Tammy & Carlos. It will be used to help them with bills & short term expenses such as, clothes, shoes, food, bedding, etc. Any amount donated will help them out & will be deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance. I'm praying that that we can make things a little bit easier for them as they try to piece their lives back together.
