Let's Help Give a Serbian Family in Need some Happier Times
Friends, Family, and Colleagues, with genuine kindness I am seeking help to raise some funds that will help purchase a motorized wheelchair, a mattress, school supplies, food and general funds for a family in Central Serbia. The remaining funds will be donated to the Studenica Monastery. Last week I spontaneously took a sad photograph of a cute little girl pushing her father on a mountainous highway in Central Serbia. As I was driving from the Studenica Monastery, the image was piercing my heart as I tried asking if I could help too no avail. I shared the picture on social media just so people could see Serbian resilience, resolve, and most importantly the love between a dad and daughter, as I titled the picture "Daddy's Little Girl". Ironically the picture was picked up by a Belgrade news site and shared on multiple outlets. A charity organization found the family through a colleague and learned their story, which is much sadder than the picture I posted. The family of 5 lives in the village of Usce, and the father (R.R.) was a hard working miner who suffered a motorcycle accident, leaving him paralyzed and unable to work and provide for his family. I hope some people could find some small means to help a family. I feel the spontaneous nature of the picture and the way people worked to find the family shows a great humanitarian cause.
- We will personally deliver the the electric wheel chair and other items to the family.
- All surplus funds will go towards helping his family and local monastery.
- I will personally email all donors a document that shows where all funds went to the very last penny.
