Serbian Sweeties

My name is Lynne Spencer and I am the founder of Give a Dog a Home UK, a rescue which saves, fosters and carefully homes deeply disadvantaged street dogs from Central Europe. We also fund neutering programmes through our sister arm, Spay It Forward.

Nearly 18 months ago I saw a photo of a dog trying to climb out of her prison cell, aka a Public ‘Shelter’ in Serbia. Despite responsibly homing 700 + dogs from all over the Balkans and Cyprus, I had no experience of Serbia and resolved to undertake this rescue myself, without risking charity funds. A wise decision as it has been a steep learning curve and a deep pain in my bank account!

Long story short, we are at last ready to bring Ella and her two original cell mates, Bonnie and Luna, over to foster homes in the UK. The prep and journey from Serbia is ultra expensive and they may well need behavioural help when they arrive as they have never lived in a home and will be institutionalised and fearful.

The true cost will be much greater than appears on this fundraiser but me and the girls would be so grateful for any help you can afford.

I am 70 in April ( I know, what a surprise!) so am combining my Big Birthday Fundraiser with this appeal, and also asking for donations instead of any presents my immediate friends and family might give. Far more wonderful to save desperate dogs’ lives than to receive anything material ❤️
