Serge, Making It Past Covid, Bruised Not Bloodied
Donation protected
2020 was a prosperous year for New Jersey Concierges, my business, until Covid happened. I was thankfully working as an 'essential worker' until early July. I then lost my main contract and with it the bulk of my revenues and income. With most potential clients working from home, my then business model suddenly was not very relevant. As a result, I created a new venture Mediterranean Work & Play , late November 2020, to cater to people who can work remotely and would like to 'work and play' in the South of Europe.
I hoped that the Spring of 2021 would come and things would pick up in a good, safe enough way. Even with the support of a few clients, I am still only at 20% of revenue from same time last year.
I have stayed afloat so far by digging deep into savings including some from retirement funds and taking a personal loan. I was also very recently able to secure my first small PPP loan just as I was 'running on fumes'. I also got my first sizeable work project last month thanks to a longtime client who was kind enough to think of me.
My plans for a soft client sign up for 'Mediterranean Work & Play' has been pushed back from May to July as new restrictions have been put in place in Europe. So there goes a revenue stream and a life raft.
For my established business, 'New Jersey Concierges', I don't expect a significant pick-up in activity until October (hopefully).
To make sure my ship does not sink, after much thought, I decided to reach out to the many people I have served over the past decade and ask for their support (and anyone else who wishes to) until a rising tide lifts my boat.
Every little bit helps!
Thanks for being there for me and sending a little sunshine my way!
