Sergeant Dennis DJ Simmonds Scholarship Foundation
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
I was recently offered a bib (# 30479) for the 2024 Boston Marathon happening on Monday, April 15 (Thank you for connecting me, Michelle). I'll be running in honor of Sergeant Dennis DJ Simmonds of the Boston Police Department, who lost his life a decade ago, a year after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing when the terrorists threw homemade explosives at the officers at the final shootout in Watertown... Sergeant Simmonds sustained injuries from the explosives that weren't discovered until he died of a brain aneurysm while working out at the Boston Police Academy gym. He was 28 and had served with the Boston Police Department for six years.
In his memory, his family has started the Dennis DJ Simmonds Scholarship Foundation which awards scholarships to students continuing their education in the criminal justice profession. Besides donating here in his memory, you can forward your contributions and send a check to the Abington Bank, 6 Harrison Avenue Abington, MA 02351 made out to the Dennis DJ Simmonds Scholarship Foundation.
Thank you for your taking the time to read about Sergeant Simmonds and for donating to his legacy to the education of future heroes like him!
With warm regards,
HQ and family of Sergeant Simmonds
