Sergeant Edgerton in Motorcycle Collision
On June 27th, at approximately 1:23 am, the Arizona Department of Public Safety notified the Gilbert Police Department that off-duty GPD Sergeant Tom Edgerton was injured in a collision on the southbound 101 freeway in north Scottsdale.
Sgt. Edgerton was riding his privately owned motorcycle at the time. The preliminary investigation revealed that Sgt. Edgerton was rear-ended by a vehicle that fled the scene of the collision. The Scottsdale Police Department later located the suspect vehicle and apprehended the driver for DUI and leaving the scene of a collision.
Sgt. Edgerton sustained serious injuries and an initial examination has him in critical, but stable condition at this time.
