Sergeant Michael Taback Injured on the job

I am a 18 year veteran police officer who served Tuxedo Park Police as a police officer, a Detective and a Sergeant. I was nearly killed in the line of duty. A man with prior arrests for DWI dragged me with his vehicle and injured me very badly trying to avoid another arrest. I went back to work 2 weeks later because I love being a cop, I love helping people and it was too much to be away from. I worked using a cane to walk for months still working cases and doing my job despite the injuries. I have been going to physical therapy for at this point years trying to stay working for the department and community I love, but was in pain.
This past summer I went out of work to have a shoulder surgery on Workman’s Comp connected to being dragged by that vehicle at work to end the pain. Because this man that tried to kill me had political connections and a crooked lawyer he managed to avoid not only jail time but is suing me if you can believe it for “police brutality“.
My job, which should pay me my full salary by law hasn’t. After 25 weeks at home trying to recover from my surgery not at work, with no over time or the second job I used to work I am out of savings and about broke. I am at the end of my rope and have run out of ideas. The part that breaks my heart is that it is hurting my wife. It’s not fair and it’s wrong to stress her out like this or make her suffer watching me her once strong and capable husband waste away. I am in constant pain and will require additional surgeries. I also suffer from deep depression/ anxiety and relive this event nightly sometimes waking up screaming. I take 30 plus medications, see a therapist weekly, do physical therapy (when they don’t cut off my benefit) 3 times a week and was as of the last independent medical examination declared 75% disabled. We need to hire a lawyer to fight and I struggle to heat my home and feed my family as it is. We need your help. Since I was 19 I have been in a service job, the US Navy, I was one of the first people hired by department of Homeland Security with the TSA then became a police officer. Please, I am a proud man but I can’t just sit at watch this go one with out trying something. I need your help.
I gave 9 years of excellent service to Tuxedo Park police, been promoted twice and the Village board of trustees won’t even answer my calls after they screwed me over. I do not deserve this disgusting treatment.
