SERVE IN SOLIDARITY ZAMBIA VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

Hello to all,

My name is Fiona Lanham and I am coming to you today as I have been picked to go on a volunteer Programme with Serve in Solidarity Charity to Zambia this coming summer.

SERVE is a development and volunteering organisation (CHY 18154) committed to tackling the root causes of poverty to achieve justice, equality and opportunities for all. We strive to do this by working in solidarity, service, and partnership with marginalised and oppressed communities. Since 2003 SERVE has worked to improve the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people in Southern Africa and South East Asia. SERVE specifically supports children, young people, and women in our partner communities.

In 2023 SERVE volunteers will be placed with SERVE partner organisations in India, Mozambique, Zambia, and with local organisations in Ireland. As well as committing to work overseas for a month this summer, our volunteers are required to raise a minimum fundraising target of €3,495, and to participate fully in SERVE’s pre-departure training. SERVE is committed to responsible and sustainable development and volunteering and aims to empower and support local communities to become self-sufficient.

I am taking part in SERVE’s volunteer programme to the Zambia this summer and I am fundraising to financially support projects there. SERVE volunteers will be placed with the Assumption Parish Youth Project. Volunteers will facilitate a youth leadership training programme, support on-going personal development initiatives, and organise community events. These projects reach the most vulnerable, supporting the poorest members of society.
