Service Dog for Ellie Brannan

Dearest friends!

Our sweet Ellie will be turning 7 at the end of March, and with my parents blessing, I, her older sister, would like to gift her with a life changing companion -- a service dog!

This decision has not come lightly and we have spent several years discussing this addition to the family. We have discerned that this year, we feel she is ready for the responsibility and has shown several signs that the companionship of a furry friend would benefit her life in so many ways. Ellie has always responded remarkably well to animal interaction as they offer her a sense of peace, and better emotional regulation.

Due to her at risk FASD (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) and severe ADHD diagnosis, she qualifies for service dog requirements. As such, it is my desire and goal to raise funds to make this resource accessible for her.

One of Ellie's biggest life struggles with this diagnoses is her emotional regulation. Studies show that the companionship and presence of a service animal widely aids in a childs ability to process and respond more appropriately. Based on our own experience of witnessing Ellie with animals, we know this to be true for her.

After much research, we have determined that a small, female golden doodle would be the best choice for her. Their temperament, smarts and hypoallergenic coats make them a perfect fit for Ellie's needs.

I have located a breeder in Lindsay that breeds 30% of their litters, specifically their golden doodles, for service or emotional support dogs. We went together and spent some time with the mom and pups and have determined that their current available litter is a good fit for Ellie. The cost of these pups are $2750. Over and above this fee would be spaying, an approx. $400 charge and training school, cost tbd.

Both my parents have expressed commitment and willingness to the required training to make this attainable for Ellie.
