Serving Zambia - Life Begins Project
Donation protected
Hi all.
I know that during this time we are all restless and concerned as to what will happen.
This new barrier that has blocked our regular exposure to freedom, has paradoxically brought both fear and union intertwined into our lives.
At this moment we are all anxious and uncertain as to what will happen in the future, but right now in these moments of restlessness, I hope you are reading this message at home, with your loved ones safely participating self distancing.
However, there are those that do not have that luxury to do so.
The basic luxuries of food, income, shelter and safety of which we are all so accustomed to- have always been a deficit for those living in Zambia. Hunger in Zambia has never been a stranger to both children and adults, however the shortage of this has increased drastically due to COVID-19. Although the virus has not spread in Zambia, its impacts have brought a severe burden. Tourism is a vital part of income that mildly supports the Zambian economy, however this trend of tourism has depreciated, and with its absence, has placed a critical strain on the citizens of Zambia. -- Specifically for a woman named Lynne, whose job (among many others) is to provide food and education to children who have met life with violence and pain. Lynne is now left with an impossible job and a surplus of generosity. Lynne is now, more than ever before, unable to properly finance herself and her business for the upcoming months.
During this time, as we are healthy, safe and home with food in our fridge, and while we worry about time in MONTHS, there are those who are taking it by DAY. Every 24 hours. Can you imagine this fear? The inability to know what can happen after a day?
My intention is not to blame you for your concerns or make you feel ashamed, but it is to shed light on the facts.
Lynne, her employees, and her organization have been working tirelessly for many years to introduce an endless cycle of goodness and a future to children that are living on the basis of survival. However this unwelcomed villain has shocked her with fear as she says “I have no idea how we will survive… It is quite hard to stay positive with all of this going on”
A situation in the country that was already fragile, has worsened to the point where the future is grim and unexpectedly unknown.
No one deserves a life by each day.
So as we all come together during this time of sadness, know that we are all on the same side, fighting against this virus that has caused pain and suffering to so many. Please discuss with your families. Any donation promotes a small change. Let us mirror this trend of unity, and show Zambia- the country that has not asked for, the aid it needs.
Come together.
Thank you.
