Serwon Strong!
Donation protected
Hi, on behalf of Steph's friends we wanted to create a space where donations could be collected to support the Serwon family. As many of you are aware, Stephanie has been actively battling cancer for the past 2+ years and graciously has held her own against this nasty and horrific disease. She has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments through Dana Farber. Over the last 2 years, she has dealt with countless days of feeling sick/nauseous (among other side effects), had to pass up on planned vacations, said goodbye to her hair multiple times, missed out on spending quality time with her daughter Camila and the list of her sacrifices she and her family have made unfortunately goes on and on.
This past month, she underwent her first radiation treatment. Radiation proved to be more challenging than anticipated causing Stephanie to lose mobility and certain functions that for the most part she had previously up to that point. She has also been recently struggling with being in severe pain, probably more than she lets on to anyone as she maintains a positive facade which many of us close to her are familiar with. Last week was another round of chemotherapy, which was paired with a steroid to lessen her side effects. She has had a negative reaction to the effects of the steroid and has lost complete mobility for the past week. All of that while raising a four year old starting Pre-K, being a wife, and a dog mom.
Stephanie's resilience and positivity has been inspiring to all of those around her, but after some more challenging setbacks recently, she has called upon her village for some additional help. Please consider donating to the Serwon Family so they can keep fighting for brighter days ahead.
Update on 10/2/23:
Stephanie asked me to provide an update. On Sept 23, Steph was admitted to Brigham Women's in Boston and it was discovered that she had cancerous tumors on her spine. Her amazing team of doctors were able to perform an emergency surgery on the 24th to remove the tumorous growth that was causing her to lose mobility functions. The surgery successfully removed most of the cancer in her spine and they were able to rebuild it using metal rods.
Her road to recovery will be long, but we all know Steph is a fighter and determined to walk again as soon as possible. She is currently in the oncology ward at Brigham undergoing radiation to treat the remaining spine tumors. She looks forward to recovering at home and being back with her family as soon as possible. The donations you all have generously provided will be going towards the home care and comfort, as well as her PT.
Update on 12/2:
Stephanie asked that an update be provided on her current status. She is at home in Amesbury and has decided to rest and stop treatments at this point. She is blown away by the support received so far to help with her expenses during this challenging time. Any continued
love and support, in whatever way makes sense for you all, is appreciated by the family. Gracias & thank you for this amazing community.
