Settling Afghan Refugees in Canada
Donation protected
Danby Appliances, together with Jim Estill who is the President and CEO of North America’s leading manufacturer and distributor of compact appliances, announced today its efforts to sponsor and support 50 families fleeing the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Estill has committed to cover half the estimated cost of $1.5 million.
“There is a humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. We cannot turn away from these families who have left everything behind” stated Jim Estill, Danby President and CEO. “Sponsoring and settling over 50 Syrian families several years ago provided insight on how to best support and successfully integrate these men, women and children new to Canada. By doing the right thing, we continue to provide a safe, welcoming network of Canadians to welcome these families. I am proud of what we are doing and thankful for the overwhelming support of other businesspeople, organizations and volunteers who have stepped up to help.”
The federal government is still assessing the situation and how refugee families will be allocated and assisted.
100% of any funds is paid directly to refugees to help them resettle.
Please donate! Every little bit counts. Canadian charitable donation receipts will only be issued for donations of $100 or more.
