Settling the Estate of My Dad (Who Was a Hoarder)
Donation protected
My dad died on February 11th, 2021. He was a proud Vietnam veteran and loving father & grandpa to my kids. I am a married father of 4, and living in Iowa, but I had to return to Ohio to take care of what he's left behind. He suffered from several mental illnesses, including hoarding.
I am his only child, I have no family that is even close to being local, and I have a massive amount of things on my plate - my time is running short, because I have to get back to my Iowa job.
Fighting off the heartbreak of my dad dying alone in his unliveable house despite my constant pleas for him to move to Iowa with me after my mom passed, I have funeral expenses, attorney costs, storage logistics, and trash/house cleanup costs that I simply could only dream of being able to afford. In order for me to sell the property and do anything productive for my family in the aftermath of my parents' death, trying desperately to simply make as many positive strides as I can in that direction by asking for help my friends, family, and community.
If you can spare anything, anything at all, I would be extremely appreciative. That's all, I guess. I know it's a terrible time to be asking, but I wouldn't be if I didn't have to.
Thanks for reading. Whatever you're going through, I love you and I hope you get through it. We all deserve to be happy and healthy. Spread love wherever you go - the world needs it now more than ever.
