Severe injuries after dog attack by Akita dog
Donation protected
Hi my name is Marilyn and I am 75 years old.
I rescued Charlie a cavalier king Charles spaniel on the 15th September 2023, which was on my husband's birthday who was a patient in a hospice with bone cancer.
My husband died 10 days later, this is why Charlie is so precious to me, he is helping me with the grief of Barry, my husband dying.
On Tuesday 14th Nov I was taking charlie for a walk when we were both attacked by an Akita dog . My neighbours rushed Charlie to the local vet and I was taken to hospital by ambulance because the dog bit my finger and I also have facial injuries.
The local vet said Charlie had such severe internal injuries that we had to take him to the RVC in Potters Bar.
He was taken into surgery and had scans which showed his diaphragm was ruptured and his internal organs had been forced up into his chest caverty and needed to be brought back into the correct position. He also had a ruptured muscle which held in his intestines which had moved to the gap between his stomach and skin, which also had to be repaired and is being nursed in the ITU.
The cost of his treatment is £13.000 which I will struggle to pay after paying for my husband's funeral, so any donations to help me with the cost of Charlie's bill will be gratfully be welcomed.
Please please help me Charlie is helping me cope with the grief of losing my husband, we were married for 54 years and I am having to cope financially on my pension.
Thank you x
