Severely autistic boy needs school help
Our son has been in our city school special needs program for 8 years and has shown little progress. We have asked for more resources for our non verbal son and they have added little bits but disguise it in group speech with kids more high functioning than him. They can’t handle his needs but don’t want to give up without a fight. We feel we have given them 8 years of his life and they haven’t been able to help him so far. We want a chance to have him in a specialized intensive program to see if they can help us make gains with him. He isn’t potty trained, he is nonverbal, he can’t dress himself and he is not even close to his peers. It’s heartbreaking for everyone that cares for him and maddening that the public school won’t admit their limitations.
We are a tight knit family of four. We don’t want to fight with anyone, we certainly don’t want any more stress in our lives, but we are standing up for our beautiful boy to give him the help he needs.
