Severely neglected & shut down Trigger needs specialist help

Trigger – one of the 10 dogs rescued from cruelty and squalor in a house in Wallasey, Wirral – is not doing well and he urgently needs to go to a residential facility who deals with traumatised dogs.

He was rescued from squalid conditions from an owner who didn't feed the dogs for days. Trigger was kept outdoors in all weathers.

He is still in commercial kennels and when he was rescued it took three staff to get him from the transporter’s van into the kennels. They are still struggling to deal with him because he’s behaving very anxious and aggressive. This means he’s not being taken for walks and staff have been unable to get him to a vets to be checked over like the other dogs have.

The plan was to move him to Pawprints to Freedom’s kennels as soon as possible but this is proving difficult and kennel staff there would face the exact same struggles.

Trigger was described as a difficult dog when he was placed with his previous owner and now he’s been neglected and kept in a faeces covered yard in all weathers his behaviour has gone worse.
He’s one damaged dog who needs specialist help.

Pawprints has previously used a dog behaviourist specialising in rehabilitation of traumatised and aggressive dogs that offers residential placements. They have worked wonders with another difficult dog of theirs. It’s not cheap - £700 a week.

Trigger in commercial kennels:

We need to get him moved to where he can get the best help ASAP so that he doesn't get worse and to keep everyone safe.

I'd set up a GoFundMe previously for the 10 dogs which people have generously donated to for transportation, commercial kennel costs (there wasn’t immediately space at the rescue) and vets bills. The vet bill amount not yet been determined a lot of the dogs are in a bad state and needing ongoing treatment. The dogs that have not been neutered yet will have that done and all dogs will be vaccinated. So that GoFundMe money is allocated to these costs and there may not be enough out of this to help Trigger.

I know it’s Christmas time and money is tight for a lot of people and it’s a big ask. But Trigger needs urgent help. If you can give just a little it will all add up.

The goal is to get Trigger rehomeable so he can know love. Not languish in kennels for the rest of his life.

Humans have failed this boy and we want to put that right.
