Seward Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy on Lake Street in Minneapolis. The pharmacy was ransacked by looters this week, and is looking to reopen as soon as possible
After working with a large chain, Elias Usso opened the pharmacy in September 2019 because he wanted to focus on patient care in a way that larger pharmacies cannot. Elias delivers prescriptions for free and visits with patients in their homes to meet their health goals. Elias owns the pharmacy with his wife, Mawerdi Hamid.
On Wednesday night, the individuals broke into the pharmacy and completely damaged it. Looters broke windows, set a fire in the building, and made off with a safe full of medicine.
Elias is currently working to find a temporary location, but he and Mawerdi plan to re-open the pharmacy as soon as possible so that the pharmacy can continue to serve patient needs. Elias’s major concern right now is to provide essential medication for his patients.
