Help the Sewing Crow-Bees
Donation protected
Who we are:
We are a small group of ladies in Crowborough, East Sussex, who have been volunteering our time and efforts to raising money for our local hospital (£15,000 raised), The Royal British Legion (£2,000 raised) and NHS Charities Together (£1,500 raised) since April 2020! We didn't know each other before this time. We answered the call for masks at the beginning of the pandemic and have sewn and distributed literally thousands of these - some freely to carers, volunteers, vulnerable groups... and more - the rest to raise funds for our chosen charity of the moment.
We have either funded ourselves for haberdashery, repairing machines, etc - much of the fabric is kindly donated and is frequently recycling unused duvet covers, sheets, ... etc.
The call for scrubs - January 2021:
We had just now starting to sew eye masks to give to hospitals for handing out to patients, nurses and doctors to use when trying to rest under the bright lights. In the middle of January we were approached by Aspens Charity asking if we could possible sew sets of scrubs for their staff. The call is for between 400-500 sets - there's only a few of us, but we are doing all we can to help.
The need for funds:
As a group, we are self-funding and have been so all through 2020. We have relied in part on donations of fabric, such as unwanted bedding, and haberdashery items such as elastic. We are paying for elastic, fleecing, thread and other essential haberdashery out of our own pockets - we have done this before, but feel some help would be nice if available - hence the GoFundMe. Any surplus funds will always go directly to a local (Crowborough) charity. We do not take any funds for ourselves - we are volunteers.
We ladies have loved what we do - it's been extremely hard work and very challenging at times - for many reasons.
If you feel you would like to help we would be so grateful - but only ask that you do this if you are able to spare the funds.
Thank you so much.
