Sewing Scrubs For The NHS
Many doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals are facing a time of great uncertainty. There are many variables outwith our control, but one thing which we have the ability to alter is the provision of scrubs. Our small medical sewing group has had a number of requests from other doctors, asking if we can sew them a set of scrubs, as there are not enough currently available.
We have received a heartwarming response, both from within and outwith the medical community. People are eager to help our NHS. A small army of individuals are poised and ready to sew, as soon as we receive the patterns.
Sew Direct have kindly donated as many paper patterns as they can source, and Steph from RadPatterns on Etsy has made the lovely gesture of providing a digital scrubs pattern to all who wish to contribute to the effort, free of charge. This is particularly important, with a reduced ability to access postal services.
Minerva Fabrics have donated a very generous 125m of suitable fabric, and we will
endeavour to post this out to those who can help. Once this stock runs out, they will be ableto supply the fabric with a 25% discount, assuming postal services are still running.
We are setting up this fundraising platform to cover the costs of posting out fabric, and also, to purchase any additional fabric that may be required. If there is any excess money left over at the close of this project, we propose donating it to UK Hospices, many of which rely heavily on donations and fundraising, to stay afloat.
NHS staff are giving us so much right now - please help us to give something back.
