Farah Rivera- Ortiz Funeral and Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Farah Rivera-Ortiz passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the age of 59. Farah was a well-known photojournalist in her native Puerto Rico and had to go on disability due to several illnesses. Regardless of her health, she advocated for the disabled in all aspects of her life and was active in numerous community boards. Farah was very active in the leadership of Festival Beach Community Garden. She wrote grants to construct raised beds, a paved central pathway, installed accessible locks at entrances, an accessible picnic table, and acquired adapted tools for the garden. In 2013 Farah founded the non-profit Serafina Food Pantry to help her neighbors access healthy food. The Serafina pantry has expanded through the years and will have a new space in the remodeled RBJ Senior Living Center.

We want to help pay for cremation services, an obituary, a memorial service, plant a tree in her honor and help with her remains. We want to exhibit her photographs. There are also plans to print and archive her extensive library of pictures.
We hope there will be more events to pay our respects, but this is just a start.
Your donation would be greatly appreciated to meet our goals.
