HELP HORSE RESCUE FLOODED BY STORM

On July 30th we were hit by a very large, unexpected storm that dumped 5 inches of rain on the rescue in 24 hours. The flash floods caused a drainage pond on the property to blow out a culvert that created a 20-foot wide by a 20-foot-deep hole (that looked exactly like an earthquake had stuck our rescue.) This is the only road that leads to our17 acre grazing pasture as well as our large storage hut and the road to the all important road to the manure pile!  Having 28 horses in our care and not having access to this part of the property was not an option.

  We had no other choice but to tap into our hay fund donations to rebuild the road,  drainage, and we still need to bring back our pasture land for the horses.
Hay is THE most important necessity that every rescue has, and now while the hay is still available, we need to fill our lofts in preparation for the long cold Vermont Winter.  Without hay, we will not be able to save the lives of many desperate at risk horses destined for slaughter.   Mother Nature has dealt us this storm and we did our best to fix what we could, but now we really need the help to pay for the repairs as well as replace the money borrowed from the hay fund so we can get hay in our lofts.

We sought both State and Federal emergency funding but none was available.  Our last hope was approaching our town for help, but none was available even to the town for their own disaster relief.
