SFC(R) Mike Authier

Fellow Soldiers, Family and friends. I’m calling on you today in an unfortunate dark time. I won’t beat around the bush.

 

BLUF: SFC(R) Michael Authier is fighting aggressive Adenocarcinoma Pancreatic stage-4 Cancer.

 

After multiple deployments, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), Indirect Fire (IDF) attacks, direct fire fights --- all of which he survived and brought his boys home, he is now immersed in a war he can’t win. Don’t get me wrong --- he’s a fierce fighter and is NOT giving up, but he’s also “Mike Authier”. This means, to some degree, he’ll determine how he departs and when. For now, he is undergoing aggressive treatments which will only buy him time.

 

Mike served honorably for over 20+ years in many different units and locations. While serving, he was a consummate Soldier, Leader, and Mentor; always giving his best to better his family, and the lives of his Soldiers and their families. His men came first; there was no doubt about that. Mike had huge aspirations and dreams to travel the country in retirement. It would have been tough with his ailments before cancer, but is now not an option.

 

Currently, Mike’s biggest concern is financial stability for his family he will leave behind, as the medical bills continue to mount. They will endure some tough years ahead. There is no way Mike would ask for this (those of you that know him, know he NEVER asks for help). We all need help at some point. His time is now! Whether current or future expenditures, or small getaway outings he can endure, any and all will go a long way.
