Raising much needed funds for Danny

Donation protected
Hi my name is Jo and I’m raising funds to help my friend Danny who is the single mum of my 15 yr old niece, Pearl.
On 30th April 2024 Danny went into hospital for a simple but much needed key hole surgery. She was told she would be in hospital for around a day or so.
But what has happened has basically destroyed her life.
During surgery her bowel was perforated but this was unknown so she was then left for 5 days developing Sepsis. Eventually they realised and got in the bowel surgeon who said it was life or death to do surgery to repair the bowel. This being the case, permission was gained from the next of kin and surgery was performed on a Sunday night. Another day and Danny would not have lived.
As the surgeries were so close together the breathing tube they put in got lodged in Danny’s throat so she was then moved down to ICU and put into a coma for 10days. This was also to get the infection under control. When Danny woke up she had no idea what had happened and having a big plastic tube in her throat was terrifying. Once they removed it she couldn’t talk very well and her throat was pretty bad.
Then Danny was hit with the horrible story of what had happened to her by the nurse who was caring for her. Hearing it just made her cry so much as she was told she would now have a stoma bag for at least six months. Although it could be said that she was lucky to be alive, her life would never be the same again.
For the next week Danny was in ICU with a nurse beside her 24 hrs a day cleaning the huge hole in her stomach where the infection was coming out. She was in a huge amount of pain and on medication that didn’t seem to be working as the pain was unbearable. Each day Danny had to try and sit up and eventually they moved her into a ward.
Danny wasn’t really getting much better then after a week of her telling them her back hurt and she couldn’t breath they eventually did scan to see that her lungs were full of fluid. So Danny was then asked to lean over her dinner table on a pillow while the stuck a needle in her back then a tube to drain 660 mls of fluid from her lungs.
Danny was in hospital for another 4 weeks and was given a lot of different pain medication as she was still in a lot of pain.
Eventually it was decided that Danny should go home as hospital was not doing her physical or mental health much good. So home she went with a stoma bag and a machine attached to the hole in her stomach and using a walker.
Dannys daughter Pearl was terrified throughout this whole ordeal and so sad to see her Mum who is usually so tough in such a bad way.
Danny now cannot work and will need to have reverse surgery in November to remove the stoma bag and clean up what mess was left there from the first surgeries. This is a frightening thought for her as it means more risk, potentially another backward step and more recovery time in the future.
She cannot do her job as a hairdresser and at this stage it is unknown how long for as she cannot stand for any period of time.
Danny receives some money from the Government which only just covers her rent, and is a single mum with a 15 year old daughter.
My goal is to raise enough money to at least get her through the next six months. Winter is here and bills are high.
Any amount of money donated or just taking the time to share the page will be much appreciated xo
