Sutures Can Give Them a Future!
Tax deductible
When this nestling House Finch was brought to us, it had a head wound that needed suturing. It is one of hundreds of birds we receive every year that require sutures to heal from injuries that are often caused by humans, whether from a vehicle strike, window strike, or domestic pet attack.
This Red-tailed Hawk (below) suffered a severe leg wound, and a skin graft was required for it to survive. Sutures saved its leg, and the hawk healed fully and was released back to the wild!
We need to purchase a variety of veterinary sutures with the money obtained from this appeal. Different types of suture are preferred depending on the type of tissue to be sutured and also the size of the bird patients, like this finch and hawk. Having sutures on hand will ensure that we can continue to provide the best professional care to wild birds, increasing their odds of flying free again.
Since 1976, we have treated and rehabilitated tens of thousands of patients, including many that were brought to us with severe injuries needing surgical care. Our mission is to provide professional, compassionate rehabilitation to native injured and orphaned wild birds and contaminated wildlife, and to promote their stewardship through education and humane research. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we are funded primarily through private donations, and we depend on our dedicated league of volunteers to assist in day-to-day wildlife care and education.
Please help us achieve our goal so we can help wild birds fly free again!
