You can learn more about my projects, offerings and priorities, on my website: https://www.sgbeepat.com/

The following are goals for a continued commitment to training and teaching in 2024. Any support you can provide is appreciated - an encouraging word as well as a financial donation. Thank you very much (domo arigato gozaimasu).

Stable NYC Housing 2024 = $10,200
NYC stable housing affords the opportunities to:

Teach as a part of La Familia Project’s Boxing program and co-developing and teaching La Familia Project’s Karate-Wellness program.
  • These programs target underserved communities, including BIPOC, immigrant, and queer communities.
  • Current classes are held in public schools and transitional residence sites.

Train Aikido at Brooklyn Aikikai, a traditional dojo that supports rigorous training in zen, Aikido (including weapons), and misogi.

Transportation between NY-NJ = $3,750
Car transportation between NY and NJ (weekly) supports:

Family care: assisting family in home care, aging support, surgery rehabilitation, and transporting between medical appointments.

Learn and lead Okinawan Karate with Isshin Shorin Ji Ryu Honbu Dojo:
  • Teaching and training in self-defense, Okinawan techniques and forms (kata), sparring. Training with this dojo has shaped my person-hood as well as the programs I offer, including self-defense classes for women, trans, and non-binary folks, and children’s martial arts educational programming.
  • Recently developed an after-school Karate program in a community center within a densely immigrant-populated area.

Feldenkrais Method Functional Integration Practitioner Training Year 1 (2024 tuition, housing, and travel) = $4,925

The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education has been pivotal in my pedagogical approach, and my personal approach to learning and living. Over the last two years, I developed skills as an Awareness Through Movement teacher (verbally-guided instruction). In the upcoming two years, I will continue my training as a Functional Integration practitioner (non-verbal, hands-on manipulation). This hands-on work has proved beneficial to people rehabilitating from strokes, children with developmental disorders, as well as folks managing chronic pain, anxiety, and distress.

Systema Training Intensive Tuition & Travel = $1,600
This Systema training intensive consistently provides activities, techniques, and concept inspiration that applies directly into workshops and classes I lead. Systema is a Russian martial arts form that works on nervous system regulation, managing fear responses, and formlessness.

Aikido Tuition and Seminar Budget = $1,100
Aikido embodies openness in the face of conflict, uprightness, and strength through sensitivity. This art has brought a roundness and an openness in my approach to martial arts and to my daily living.

General Transportation Maintenance = $2,550
Car maintenance and insurance premiums, includes prices of oil changes and tune-ups. This does not include unexpected maintenance and needs.

My car’s use for transportation extends beyond my personal needs, and is often used to make workshops, events, and nature more accessible to the people around me.

Outdoor Gear Refresh = $250
Used in taking people outdoors, often for the first time: hiking, camping, trail running, backpacking, mushroom foraging.
