Sgt. Daniel Mata

Sgt. Daniel Mata grew up in Houston, Texas and joined the United States Marine Corps on December 4, 2000. He was stationed in Camp Pendleton California with India Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Infantry Regiment. He deployed to Iraq early 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and would deploy another two times before leaving the Marines on December, 2008. Sgt. Mata was an outstanding Marine. Always selfless and loved by all who knew him. Sgt. Mata passed away in Oregon on December 2, 2023 leaving behind his wife and 3 children.

In an effort to offset some of the funeral and memorial services cost, we are asking for those who can help to please do so. Sgt. Mata did everything possible to ensure that his Marines were taken care of on and out of the battlefield and even after he left active duty he was still the "Go To Guy" for many of us. Any overage in our goal will be utilized to assist the immediate family with travel expenses and provide Sgt. Mata's wife and children with a temporary financial safety net. Help us in bringing this husband, father, son, and Marine to his final resting place. Thank you all in advance.
