My name is Delbert M. Grush, I am a 35 year old Floridian and a Father of four daughters and one son. I am also a Retired U.S. Army OEF Combat Veteran.

In 2007 while a young paratrooper serving in combat with TaskForce Fury, I became sick & symptomatic with neurological problems. I was monitored over time by our medics and the problem eventually progressed and deteriorated me enough which called for a medical evacuation.

I was quickly diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis a debilitating form of Muscular Dystrophy which subsequently called for a early medical retirement from the military.

Over the years I have exhausted use of oral medications to control this neuromuscular autoimmune deficiency that failed to manage it. I underwent a operation called a thymectomy that proved ineffective as the disease surfaced yet again post-surgery. In recent years I have been treated with bi-monthly infusions of IVIG (Gamma Globulin) & Plasmapheresis which was forewarned it would become less effective the more it was used, and this treatment comes with severe strain to my organs and awful side-effects whilst being the most advanced treatment for Myasthenia Gravis to most Hospitals.

Recent innovation and technologies in Stem-Cell Therapies have proven effective in controlling Myasthenia Gravis. In worse case Stem Cell Therapy has controlled this disorder side effect free, in best case it has sent the disease into long term remission leaving patients symptom free. This treatment if referred to as Autologous Hemotopoietic Stem-Cell Therapy.

Autologous - meaning my own cells/tissues in this case (Stem-Cells) would be extracted from my fat which is less invasive than bone marrow extracts, the fat also provides 500x more Stem-Cells. My body essentially is providing its own cure that could be cropped, multiplied in a controlled environment and redirected to control my health side effect free.

Unfortunately Stem-Cell Therapy is underfunded in the U.S. and most insurances dont cover it or many institutes do not accept insurances. I have exhausted myself researching and I feel that my life depends on a change, as risks are starting to outweigh benefits of IVIG any further.

The blessing in disguise is:  There is a veteran founded company & private hospital called "Stemedix" in St. Petersburg, Fl. that I've had a consultation with and Mrs. Sarah Day (Care Coordinator) has outlined what they could do for me and instilled a sense of hope and faith I have not had in sometime, I was wearing thin on my only option wondering if any advancements or cures would occur in my lifetime.

I will need to raise $13,500.00 that will cover the cropping, multiplying, banking and infusions of my own Stem-Cells. Their plan is to perform the the cropping of my Stem-Cells, provide 2 doses on initial infusion and another 6 months down the road, leaving 22/25 doses left to bank for future use. They would perform infusions every 6 months to control my disease or generally boost my health, and the 22 doses banked  would last me for 11 more years.

Because of convoluted insurance red tape and Hospitals that havent adopted these technologies, I am forced to place blind faith in people helping me raising these funds for accessibility to my own health, which will give me 11 years of assurance. I believe its a more natural alternative (with no side effects or potential for rejections), its more cost effective than my current treatments and creates a more independent patient as I rely on my bodies own source of healing with assistance of healthcare professionals.

I have faith after a turbulent ride battling this vicious disease that there is hope within reach and being made somewhat affordable, I would love to have quality of life and living to see my children grow into adults. There is nothing too large or too small that I wouldnt be gracious for in assisting me towards my goal for health and beating Myasthenia Gravis.
