Shadowhaven Farm Sanctuary and Veterinary Fund

Shadowhaven Farm Sanctuary was formally established in 2020 - and is home to horses, ponies, cows, pigs and ducks! We were not a 'rescue' back in 1994, when we saved a 20 year old horse named Shadow being sold at auction. She was the first in a long line of horses and ponies, dogs and cats that we have brought home over the last 25 years.  In early 2020 we heard about 22 pigs that needed homes desperately. We had no place to put any of them - but it made us start thinking that we could open to more and different animals. Thankfully those 22 pigs all found wonderful homes. And, inspired by them and those special people who fought to save them, we have decided to make room for farm animals like pigs, cows, ducks and other animals in need by creating a small sanctuary dedicated to providing the best care that we can to those who join us. 

And then in 2020 we took in two young farm pigs, Dotty and Rocksy - one is a rescue who was originally intended for slaughter, the other a family pet that faced a bleak future if we didn't give her a home. Now, Dotty and Rocksy, the two young pigs, are enjoying their own fenced yard with a 'wallow' to play in the mud, a small forest to explore and a new house with a 'bedroom' filled with soft straw to burrow in and cuddle. 

We also gave a home to a 16 year old dairy cow named Rosie, who was going to be euthanized because she is no longer able to have calves, and therefore is not useful for milking.  And sixteen (yes 16!) ducks.  And now - I have to share Little Macc's story. He is a Jersey calf, and at 3 days old he was up for grabs. Because he is a boy he is considered a waste product of the dairy industry. He has no value. So, at three days old he was disposed of - free - first come first serve - no questions asked. No questions asked - you know the things that can happen to free animals ... fortunately, we got there first.  Then, two weeks later we got a message - did we want another calf? So, now Little Macc and his little brother Barak are living with Rosie. An adorable and loving little family.

Please help support Little Macc and his little brother - they need bottle feeding several times a day, vaccines from the vet, and, when they are healthy enough, they will need to be sterilized, so that they don't grow up to be bulls - and all of the other animals here at Shadowhaven Farm Sanctuary.  We need help with all of the veterinary bills, building fences and duck and pig houses as well as a cozy stall and adjacent outdoor area for Rosie the cow and Little Macc and his little brother - so that these young pigs, ducks and elderly cow and little calves all have the space that they deserve.

About us: Shadowhaven Farm Sanctuary is a new non-profit farm animal rescue based in Ontario, Canada.

The money we raise has gone, first and foremost, to pay for spaying, housing and fences for Dotty and Rocksy as well as the houses for the ducks and lovely sunny spot for Rosie the cow. And now, we have created an area just for Little Macc and his little brother. If we raise more than our goal, it will be used for our general veterinary fund and to help save more lives.

All of the money we receive for this campaign is for the animals.
