Founded by Artistic Director Emma King-Farlow, Shadow Road is a small independent theatre company which specialises in bringing exciting pieces of theatre for all ages and occasions to unusual venues and spaces in creative new ways.
We have continued that tradition with one of our latest projects, Fireside Folktales, retelling myths, legends & classic stories from around the world, each presented as an original short play performed by a company of professional actors to audiences young, old, & in-between. Our repertoire of plays is continually growing & includes an acclaimed production of A Christmas Carol which will return this Christmas.
We are also looking forward to launching our latest crossplatform venture, Secret Storytellers, which will see us producing some exciting online content based in a new story-world, in order to enhance the work of our two-person teams, who will deliver a range of thrilling live performances in front of a wide variety of audiences.
Our work always involves a charitable aspect of some kind - raising awareness, raising funds, offering a service, or taking live entertainment out to people who, due to illness or infirmity, might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy it.
This voluntary work is an important part of our overall ethos & aims as a company and, as an extension of this, we also run a mixed art mental health awareness festival & Short Film Prize, UNBROKEN , which not only explores the issues surrounding mental health via many different art forms, but also enables us to provide other festival events & therapeutic workshops to the public at prices low enough to ensure no one is barred by cost from attending & benefiting.
We are a small self-funded company, always on the lookout for new blood, be it onstage, backstage or supporting us from behind the scenes. If you have enjoyed our productions or you like the sound of the work we produce and would like to get involved, perhaps you would consider becoming a much needed and hugely appreciated supporter? By helping us, you will enable us to build on the work we have already done and continue creating, innovating and helping others in our turn.
Thank you!
