Shadow’s Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Everyone who knows Jenn, knows Shadow. Shadow is her heart dog, her emotional support dog, and most of all her best friend. His cancer diagnosis has shaken us all to our core, we still have yet to really wrap our minds around how this could possibly by happening to such a sweet, young soul.
It’s no secret that Jenn has been struggling with disabilities, thus struggling with affording to live in such an expensive economy. Her and her family have had to endure back to back struggles and losses, ones that no one should have to face especially so close to one another. It’s also no secret that Jenn has had her fair share of trouble over the past year or so, and because of that she is completely unwilling to ask for help again after the shame and bullying she endured as a result of asking for such help.
After losing her mom to her long battle with cancer in January, Jenn has leaned on Shadow more now than ever before. He has saved her life many times over, and it is breaking her heart that she ultimately cannot save his. What she can do is she can buy time. Much deserved time. And I hope we can all help her. I’m hoping we can all pull together and help take the financial burden off of her shoulders as she takes some time off of work to spend Shadow’s remaining time with him. Not only does he require close monitoring, but there are cardiology and oncology appointments to follow up with that will inevitably interfere with her work schedule as well.
Another thing everyone knows about Jenn is that she is very experienced and educated when it comes to owning and caring for dogs, and she will never let quality of life decline to a point where Shadow is suffering in any way. Quality of life at this time is not in question, and I hope we can help ease the strain of getting funds together to help Shadow be with us as long as his beautiful body allows.
As of this week, Shadow surprised Jenn yet again with another speed bump in his health. He has what’s called an anal sac abscess which costed her $700 to treat alone, and she thought maybe the sedation may have caused a complication so they are back at Eclipse Specialty Hospital today to reassess and see what could be going on. We have learned that Shadow is building up fluid slowly again around his heart, which inevitably will need drained out in the near future. Given his quality of life & what veterinarians are saying, it is worth doing another fluid tap since the last one gave Shadow 2 fantastic months with no complications.
I will post each of the invoices to validate the reasons why it is crucial for Jenn to receive all of the support possible right now. Her small business has been absolutely booming lately, but with that being said reliability is the utmost important thing to Jenn being a pet care provider & missing or rescheduling walks has taken a toll on both her and (inevitably) her clients. Taking a hiatus, no matter how short or long, is extremely difficult for a small business owner & I hope to be able to seek out help and support for Jenn, one of the best and most recommended pet care providers in the area, as she navigates this extremely difficult time, and help make Shadow as happy and as comfortable as possible in the process.
On April 1st it cost $6,000 alone to hospitalize, monitor & do a fluid tap on Shadow’s heart which will be needed again in the near future as fluid will build back up and will eventually cause his heart to not function properly. Any little bit helps. Please share with fellow animal lovers as we have seen how the animal loving and rescue community can really make miracles happen. ️
