In loving memory of Joseph (Chip) Shadyac July 4, 1954-April 3, 2023.
Hi, my name is Nancy Shadyac and I am creating this fundraiser in honor of my late husband Joseph (Chip) Shadyac. Joe and I met when we were 14 years old through my older brother Jeff Hammond who was Joe's dear friend. Joe went off to Vietnam and I went through my journey of life, but God knew we would cross paths again. Joe and I reunited in 1991 through a Gosnold group and we got married 13 months later. Joe and I shared a love for felines and raised 18 cats together throughout our marriage. We were Civil War reenactors. Joe and I shared many common passions and interests. Our love for one another ran deeper than the eye could see. I am sad to say Joe recently passed away from an aggressive form of liver cancer. Joe was a man in long-term recovery who celebrated 29 years this past October. Joe began working at the Stephen Miller House, a men's halfway house located in Woods Hole, in 1993 where he set out on his life purpose to help others. Throughout the years at the Miller House, Joe had a mission and that was to help anyone suffering from addiction find recovery, and that was something that he greatly succeeded in. Joe was extremely selfless and a spiritual guru. Many people will remember Joe for his love and passion for helping others and his calm and soothing soul. Our mission to continue to live out Joe's legacy is to raise money and awareness for people struggling with addiction. We want to provide services and resources for people in early recovery for sober living expenses or just daily essentials that may be needed. We understand the struggles people face in continuing on the path of recovery where we may run into financial issues. In honor of Joe, we want to start the Shadyac Sunshine Recovery Fund to carry out the message of one addict helping another. 100% of proceeds will go to eligible recipients directly from the donor. Please feel free to share and donate. Any amount goes a long way and will be greatly appreciated.
