Shail Leszkowicz Eagle Scout Project
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Shail Leszkowicz, and I am a Life Scout in Troop 14. I am currently working on completing my Eagle Scout project. For my project, I will be constructing a bird blind for The Black Run Preserve, a 1,300 acred area of permanently preserved land that protects many of the species inhabiting the Pine Barrens. What is a bird blind you might ask? A bird blind is a wall that allows you to easily view birds without disturbing them.
This gofundme page was created to raise funds required for the materials needed to construct the bird blind. Materials include ground contact pressure-treated posts and boards, fast setting concrete mix, all-purpose gravel, deck screws, marine hooks, heavy-duty hinges, and more. Any size donation is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
The Friends of the Black Run Preserve (FBRP) is a nonprofit organization founded to protect the preserve’s pristine Pine Barrens ecology while promoting healthy outdoor activities, environmental awareness, and education. Every year, during bird watching season, the preserve puts up bird feeders, and many photographers and researchers observe the birds and their behaviors. Photographers and researchers of the Friends of the Black Run Preserve also work directly with Cornell University, to carefully track and analyze all bird movements and patterns in the area. The bird blind that I will be constructing will help those researchers and photographers to view the birds easier without disturbing them. It will also be a nice location for hikers and families to come and view the birds in their natural habitat.
