Shaina Chafin

Shaina is a daughter, sister, aunt, mentor, teacher, basketball coach and more. She dedicates her life to health, the love of the game and coaching kids who also love the game. She is passionate about helping others develop and grow, always remaining your biggest cheerleader. She was gearing up for a year full of goals, making her vision board come to life.

January 23, 2022 - 23 days into the new year, still planning those New Years' resolutions. Then one Doctor's appointment changed everything, the words we never thought we'd hear. You have cancer.

The insurmountable pain that follows those words is nothing you can honestly understand until it's someone so close to you. The emotions that follow. Those life-changing words, we will never forget that moment. A multitude of Doctor's appointments followed, literally at a Doctor's appointment daily for months and more information than you can process at one time is thrown at you. The decisions have to be made in a split second. Second Opinions, Third Opinions followed. After all, there is no family history of it.

We were ready to fight. That's who we are, fighters. But then, we were told it was Metastatic Breast Cancer. Those chilling words, changed this entire journey. The private and personal things that follow are enough to bring you to your knees. Those very things that make you feel feminine are gone. Shaina continues to keep the positivity flowing through while she kicks ass on this journey. She continues to live life to the fullest, as best as she can. Curve ball after curve ball. Job Loss. The journey thus far has been, a different diagnosis than where we started; cancer is found in different places of her body, Stage 4 MBC, the agonizing conversation of life expectancy and trying to find how to navigate life with cancer, a life we've never known.

Shaina has always been an intentional individual. But now, more than ever, there is a significant emphasis on enjoying each day and treasuring those loved ones that show up when she needs them most. She has recieved outpouring love from everyone in her life. Support from some of the most beautiful individuals that she's met along the way, but the medical bills are adding up.
