Shaina with her monthly bills and medical bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy and I've started this Go Fund Me to help my dear friend and co-worker Shaina Brannon. On October 4th, Shaina started to feel under the weather and decided to take a Covid test. It came back positive, so she started to self quarantine, her symptoms started as cold and sore throat. By Saturday Oct 7th she was feeling much worse and decided to go to the ER. They treated her for her symptoms and sent her home. Overnight she became much worse and was having difficulty breathing. First thing Sunday morning she was driven to the Durango Hospital and was admitted. At this time Shaina was struggling hard to breath and very scared. The Doctors talked about her possibly having to go on a ventilator if they couldn't get her O2 levels up and her breathing less labored. After multiple CT scan and tons of x-rays and other tests they started treating her for a bacterial pneumonia. We did see some improvement throughout the weekend, good and then bads. Until Friday Oct 13th, after yet another CT scan they determined she needed to be flown to Colorado Springs where they could place chest tubes to drain the infection. Saturday Oct 14th she had 2 chest tubes placed and finally got a little relief. The plan was to monitor her and recheck her progress on Monday to determine the next steps. Monday's CT scan showed little improvement in her lungs and not much had drained. A surgeon called and wanted to go in and preform a thoracoscopy to drain, flush and get all the infection out. Monday afternoon this procedure was successfully preformed and he was very happy with the outcome. This has been a roller coaster last couple of weeks but Shaina is finally starting to improve and feeling much better. Today has been the first day in 10 days that she has eaten. She is weak and exhausted but more comfortable. She has a long road ahead of her as we are still unsure when they will be releasing her from the hospital in Colorado Springs, assuming no other curveballs present themselves. All her co-workers and I ("her Family") are coming up with a plan to help her when she returns. The real recovery will start at home.
For those of you who know Shaina, you know she is a fighter and we know she will make a full recovery. We just want to help make things a little easier for her when she returns so she doesn't have to worry about how she is going the pay the bills. Shaina is single and lives alone. She does not have any family (we are her family). Shaina does have some health insurance, but at this time we do not know how much will be covered. Her medical bills will be high but right now we are more concerned about her monthly expenses. If you can help in anyway she would greatly appreciate it. If you know her personally and want to reach out via text, she would love that. She will respond in time.
Thank you for the support, it is greatly appreciated.
