Shakespeare's Women
Donation protected
A performance of a new play, SHAKESPEARE’S WOMEN written by Lorien Haynes, directed by Jude Kelly (CBE).

This provocative and moving play brings ten of Shakespeare’s most famous women into a modern setting; placing them in the same domestic abuse support group.
Centuries have passed but little has changed as they come together to eat biscuits and talk. A black comedy, the play gradually exposes each woman’s darkest secrets and asks what would happen if the protagonists we know from the plays survived their traditional narratives to become flesh and blood today.
As the theme of the play is domestic abuse, all proceeds from the evening will be donated to Refuge. The charity which provides safe accommodation and a 24/7 helpline for women and children escaping domestic abuse.
There will be two performances on the 7th January at the Sam Wanamaker Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe - one in the afternoon for school and university students followed by a Q&A - and the other an evening gala performance.
