Shakira "Shaki": Medical Bills and Cremation

Hello, my name is Guadalupe and I’ve had my 4-month old tortoiseshell cat, Shaki, since she was 1 month old. She was the most loving, energetic, and curious baby ever. She loved laying on my chest and would always want to be around her family and friends, especially my two dogs who were her best friends as well. Unfortunately, on Monday April 21, 2025, she managed to slip through a window and fell five floors down. She managed to fall while we were at work we found her breathing but badly injured. We consulted the veterinarians about her status and they recommended specialists but were unsure about the blood and bruising in her lungs as well as her spine and neck potentially getting worse. They knew this was going to be a tough battle, and I know Shaki fought as much as she could but she was in so much pain and didn’t have the strength to even pick her head up or be able to stand by herself. Her legs, body, and head were all weak and we couldn’t bear to see her suffer. She fought as hard as she could, at just 4 months old she managed to have such an impact on my life as well as my family’s. She got attached mostly to my brother and I, we’ll forever miss her cuddles, meows, hide and seeks, footsies, and her as a whole. God gave her the strength to fight for as long as she could but we can all tell she was tired and in pain. We didn’t want to see her suffer any longer and as much as it hurt, along with the recommendations from the vet, we had to euthanize her and allow her to rest in peace.

My beautiful, adventurous, loving, and energetic Shaki- I will miss you dearly and know that any little time God gave me with you, I will value it for a lifetime. We hope you loved us as much we loved you, and know you’ll forever be in our prayers and may we heal as we process our emotions during this difficult time. I close my eyes and see you. Anywhere I look I see you running to me to lay on my chest and hear you pur yourself to sleep in comfort. Your kisses and love bites will be missed like no other. I’m still processing how that same morning I held you sleeping on my chest and waking up so happy to see you shine my day and at night your light dimmed and you were no longer with us.

This GoFundMe will be used to cover Shaki’s medical bill as well as her cremation. Her ashes will be delivered to us as long as a plaque with her paw prints.
