Shana's Magical Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jolene and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Shana. She has been dealing with cancer and cancer care all of last year. She had surgery and other treatments. She was recovering from her second surgery in Oct. 2022 and the doctors told her it was gone and she would be able to heal and move on with her life. In Feb. 2023 she found out the cancer came back and it is more aggressive this time, so she needs more aggressive treatments, which means supplemental treatments to counteract the cancer treatments wear and tear on her body. Then she will be able to recover fully.
She is a self-employed spiritual psychotherapist, a single mother of two young adults, a dog and nature lover. She has one child in college and the second is aspiring to attend. She plans to work during her treatments. We're hoping that if she gets support here from you she will be able to be able to rest when she needs to take days off because of the chemo side effects.
During this journey, Shana has been getting unforeseen costs out of pocket including hospital bills, travel to appointments, change in diet and supplements as well drain management clothing. An example of unexpected cost is "Arctic Cold Caps which are used to help patients keep their hair, unfortunately, the cost is prohibitive for most. But cold caps are used for scalp cooling during the Chemotherapy process. Cap is filled with dry ice and is known to reduce hair loss. Hair loss is one of the most psychologically devastating aspects of cancer treatment. The cold temperature of the cap constricts the blood vessels beneath the skin of the scalp preventing the chemo medicine from reaching the hair follicles. This will cost her out of pocket approximately a few hundred a week for 12 weeks.
