Shane Daniel Adkisson, Age 53, passed away peacefully in his Columbus home on Friday June, 23rd. Shane was born on January 11, 1970 in Columbus, Nebraska to Daniel Adkisson and Karen Stempek Adkisson Terry.
Shane is survived by his Mother, Karen Terry of Columbus; sister Michele Adkisson of Lincoln, brother Jon Adkisson of Bedford, Texas; brother Ryan (Jana) Adkisson of Des Moines, Iowa; Nieces and Nephew Brittney, Trey, Ivy and Great Nephew Jordan. He is preceded in death by his Father Daniel Adkisson; Grandparents Oscar & Laura Adkisson and Adam & Victoria Stempek.
Shane grew up on the Adkisson family farm located 4 miles west of Duncan. As a kid in Duncan, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball, which he then later went on to play for the Columbus White Sox. He attended Columbus High School before going to work for the railroad, then going on to work at Neids Meat. It was there that he created a lifelong friendship with Steve Blohm and Penny Blohm. Steve went on to employ him at Parkview Express where he had many regular and loyal customers who quickly became friends. Shane had a passion for art and music. You could always find him blaring classic rock and oldies country. He even owned his own business painting and making jewelry. Above all, Shane was a man of great faith and service. He dedicated his life to the Lord with a ministry to share God’s word with all those around him. He cared deeply for his family and always made sure to check in with weekly phone calls. He also would be the first person to send a holiday or birthday card each year. There is no doubt that he was welcomed home into the house of the Lord with open arms. Shane’s infectious smile, compassionate heart and faithful soul will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shane Adkisson memorial that has been set up to help with funeral costs and his final resting place.
