Shane- Budd-Chiari Syndrome
At the end of May, Shane began to get really sick and with many appointments and emergency room visits, he and his wife Jesssica were getting no answers. He ended up in the hospital 3 times before they were able to diagnoese this extremely rare syndrome. Budd–Chiari syndrome is a very rare condition, affecting 1 in a million adults. The condition is caused by occlusion of the hepatic veins that drain the liver. It presents with the classical triad of abdominal pain, ascites, and liver enlargement. The formation of a blood clot within the hepatic veins can lead to Budd–Chiari syndrome. The syndrome can be fulminant, acute, chronic, or asymptomatic. Shane has been unable to work and his wife has to be his full time nurse at home. They drive to Morgantown weekly for labs and medications for him. Also to take in consideration the immense amount of medical bills that are stacking up on them.
Anything that can be donated to help the Bragg family would be appreciated in the fullest.
Thank you.
