Shayne Thacyk and Kim Crossman

Shayne and Kim are a family from Reddeer AB in desperate need of help from their community and those around them. This fall they discovered holes in their roof and reached out to us to have it fixed. Upon looking at the issue we found so much more damage that needs be be fixed urgently to have their home be safe to live in again. Upon removing the siding and plywood underneath, we discovered a mass infestation of ants, rotting 2X4's mold in the insulation, an improper vapor barrier job, moldy ant infested drywall that was crumbling and so much more. Blackwood Exteriors, and The Drywall Fairy have partnered together to volunteer their time to making their home safe to bring their kids home again. We need money for materials, a plumber and to help replace much of the children's toys and clothing that has to be thrown away due to the amounts of mold we found. Shane and Kim unfortunately have a very limited income. Kim is a stay at home mom, and Shayne works to support her and their 2 children along with his other 3 children that live seperate from him. This makes money incredibly tight with Shayne often going without to ensure his family has what they need. Unfortunately they are not in a position to afford home owner insurance and have to fix everything out of pocket and had no idea how bad the damage was until it was too late due to the fact that Shayne works away and Kim was unaware of the building damage. With the amount of mold we found we had to remove 1 and a half walls, all the insulation, the entire ceiling, the siding, and over half the drywall and the flooring. With the materials we have been able to use from left over jobs we have been able to build the exterior of the walls and are at stand still for the time being. We are asking for everyone's help to make their home safe again before winter hits.
