Michael “Shane” McKinney, Age 44, of Wanatah, IN passed away on Friday, September 15th, 2017. He was born December 13th, 1972 in Valparaiso, IN to Roy Joseph and Cynthia (Vick) McKinney. On March 9th, 1998 in Hobart, IN he married Angela Kissinger.
Shane was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident. He worked for U.S. Steel and attended Valparaiso Nazarene Church. Softball was his addiction; he loved the game and coaching his girls. He coached a travel league, Northwest Indiana Storm Fastpitch and helped build softball fields in Union Mills.
Shane is survived by his wife, Angela McKinney; daughters, Skylar Ann and Autumn Cynthia McKinney; father, Roy Joseph McKinney; mother, Cyndi (Appie) Peute; brothers, Brandon Joseph and Jody Clayton McKinney; half-brother, Tyler Markus McKinney; half-sister, Cortni McKinney; step brother, Stephen Peute and step sister, Sarah (Joe) Campo; mother and father-in-law, Leonard & Jennifer Kissinger; brother-in-law, David (Laura) Kissinger; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Shane’s family to be used for his daughters’ education on this page.
*Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 11:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
